Nicole Wittwer
Trainee Patent Attorney

Nicole recently joined Madderns’ Life Sciences and Chemistry team as a Trainee Patent Attorney and is currently working towards registration as a Patent and Trade Marks Attorney.

She holds a PhD in Biomedical Science and a Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine (with Honours), and brings over 15 years of experience in cancer immunology, antibody therapeutics and cellular immunotherapy.

Before joining Madderns, Nicole worked in both academia and in the biotechnology sector, collaborating with researchers, clinicians and industry partners to advance novel cancer immunotherapies from discovery through to translation. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals including the Journal for Immunotherapy for Cancer, the Journal of Experimental and Clinical Cancer Research and Blood Advances.

Nicole’s research has ranged from basic science through to translational research and early clinical development, with a particular focus on antibody-based therapeutics and cellular immunotherapy. She has worked on CAR T-cell therapies, cell engineering, antibody-drug conjugates and monoclonal antibodies, with her research contributing to multiple Phase I clinical trials. Nicole also has industry experience, having worked at an Adelaide-based biotechnology company where she contributed to the clinical translation of monoclonal antibody therapeutics.

Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on her children’s many sporting pursuits, going for walks and good coffee.
