Emily has recently joined Madderns’ ICT team as a Trainee Patent Attorney and will be working towards registration as a Patent and Trade Marks Attorney.

Emily is currently completing a PhD in Machine Learning at the University of South Australia. Her research interests lie in the development of deep learning methods for acoustic modelling and applications such as speech recognition and acoustic scene classification. Prior to her PhD, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Adelaide, which equipped her with a strong knowledge base in both software and hardware for developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions.

Emily has developed expertise across a broad range of AI domains, including computer vision and language modelling. She has gained experience in building AI-driven solutions through research projects and collaborations with industry partners in sectors such as cybersecurity and agriculture. Her work has been published in international conference proceedings, and she has contributed to the academic community as a peer reviewer for academic journals. She has also mentored undergraduate research projects and delivered lectures in AI.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys practising recurve archery and playing video games.
