“Having a dedicated team of experienced trade mark attorneys who focus purely on trade mark matters means that we can provide specialist advice and assistance to help safeguard our clients’ valuable brands.”
Louise heads up our specialist Trade Marks Team and has many years of experience in the management of international trade mark portfolios for clients in a wide range of industries (with particular expertise in the wine industry).
Louise has been named as a leading trade mark professional in the annual World Trade Mark Review 1000 since 2014, and she has also been listed as a trade mark “IP Star” in Managing Intellectual Property’s annual World IP Survey since 2014.
Louise works with clients to secure, manage and defend their valuable brands in Australia and overseas. This includes: advising on trade mark availability and providing filing advice tailored to the relevant business, considering available options for overcoming objections raised during the trade mark examination process, preparing responses to adverse examination reports, and representing clients in relation to trade mark opposition and non-use cancellation proceedings before the Australian Trade Marks Office.
Louise commenced working in intellectual property law in 2000. Louise spent five years working as an intellectual property/commercial lawyer for a large Australasian law firm and over 18 months working at intellectual property firms in London, before joining Madderns to specialise purely in trade marks in 2007.
Louise has a Master of Laws (specialising in intellectual property law) from Melbourne University (2009) and a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (with Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (Spanish/Japanese) from Flinders University (1999). She has also completed the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.
